Welcome to the University Ringette Website!
Did you know the University Ringette Team has a scholarship program totalling $50,000 annually available for its players? For the 2018/2019 academic year 16 University Ringette players qualified for a scholarship from the team. Collectively these student athletes achieved an impressive collective GPA of 3.6! Scholarships for the 2018/2019 season were awarded on June 8, 2019. A number of players on the University Ringette Team now have most, if not all, of their post-secondary tuition fees paid for through University Ringette scholarships.

The University Ringette Team hosted Ringette Scores on Cancer XI at West Edmonton Mall, January 10 - 12, 2020. In excess of $75,000 was raised during the 3 day event for research at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton. To-date, $875,000 has been raised for cancer research by the University Team! The University Ringette Team has won four consecutive gold medals at the 2011/2012, 2012/2013, 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 Canadian National University Ringette Championships. In 2015/2016 the University Ringette Team won the bronze medal. The team has now won five medals at the annual national university ringette championships!! The University Ringette Team places a heavy emphasis on community service. Players and coaches volunteer countless hours each year on a number of worthwhile projects, including: Ringette Scores On Cancer, school visitation program, summer ringette camps, ringette clinics, Kids in the Crowd, etc.

In 2012 and 2019 the University Ringette Team was awarded a prestigious National Philanthropy Award in recognition of the substantial amounts of money it has helped to raise for cancer research by the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

On June 15, 2015, the 4 coaches (Bob Bailey, Paul Hotke, Bonnie Peters, John Romyn) of the University Ringette Team were inducted in the City of Edmonton's Sports Hall of Fame in the builder category. The 4 coaches were recognized for their extensive efforts over many years in establishing university ringette in Edmonton and througout the rest of Canada. As well, the 4 coaches were recognized for the significant amount of charitable work and community service activities they have carried out.

On June 16, 2014, the University Ringette Team received an Award of Distinction from the City Edmonton as part of its Hall Fame induction ceremonies. The award recognizes the four consecutive gold medals won by the team at the national university ringette championships (2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015), as well as the outstanding contributions made to the community by the team through programs such as Ringette Scores on Cancer, the school visitation program and its summer camp program. No other university sports team in Alberta and no other ringette team has ever achieved this prestidgious honour.
